More than a place of residence: the first 60 neighborhoods in Latvia have been announced that will participate in the “Safe Communities” program 

On April 21, the first selection process in the neighborhood community development program was completed, approving the first 60 neighborhood communities out of a total of 225 applications. The “Safe Communities” program will provide mentor support, knowledge, and funding for their initiatives to neighborhood communities in 40 municipalities out of a total of 42 municipalities in Latvia.

Communities were selected for participation in the program in two rounds. In the first round, the eligibility of the community for the program was assessed, while in the second-round interviews were conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the applicants. The competition was significant – 88.9% of participants, or more than 200 communities, passed the first round and advanced further.
