Civic-Alliance Latvia represents the common interests of civil society, including associations and foundations, based on the fundamental freedoms of democracy and human rights. Therefore, any organization or individual can join CAL if they support its values and advocate for an active civil society.

    The goal of Civic-Alliance Latvia is to strengthen the civil society of Latvia and create a favorable environment for the activities of associations and foundations.

    Ethical Code of Associations and Foundations
    The Ethical Code of Associations and Foundations establishes the basic principles of professional ethics and behavior standards for members, board members, employees, and external experts of associations and foundations. Representatives of organizations adhere to the code in fulfilling their duties, in interpersonal communication, as well as in relations with other organizations, state and local government institutions, and society at large.     We support the CAL’s goal to strengthen civil society in Latvia, advocate for the common interests of NGOs, and create a favorable environment for their activities.

      All individuals or legal entities wishing to become members of the CAL must meet at least the following conditions:

      • Be a registered organization or a civically active citizen;
      • Embody the CAL’s mission, values, and vision, and comply with the CAL’s Code of Ethics for Associations and Foundations.

      Therefore, the decision to become a member of the Civic Alliance – Latvia must be rational, confident, and consciously made. Before filling out the application, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the association’s statutes, strategy, code of ethics, and CAL membership policy.

       

      How to become part of the CAL family?
      1. Familiarize yourself with the CAL’s statutes, goals, values, and the Association and Foundation Code of Ethics.
      2. Fill out the online application form on the CAL website;
      3. After submitting your application, you will receive confirmation that it has been received;
      4. The CAL Board will review your application, including assessing your motivation (this usually takes up to three weeks);
      5. You will receive a response from the CAL:
        • If the CAL Board’s decision is positive, you will receive a confirmation email and additional information about your opportunities as a member.
        • If the CAL Board’s decision is postponed due to uncertainty, you will receive an email asking you to provide additional information or inviting you to the next council meeting to introduce yourself or the organization you represent in person.
        • If the CAL Boards’s decision is negative, you will receive an email explaining why this decision was made. The decision can be appealed within two weeks of receipt by submitting an application to the Council, asking the Council to specify the reason for the refusal or requesting the Council to reconsider the application by providing additional necessary information.

      (members are sent a bill once a year for the full amount for the current year, at the beginning of the year):
