Latvia’s Sixth Open Government Action Plan approved: includes civil society proposals

On March 10, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Sixth National Open Government Action Plan of Latvia 2026–2027, developed by the State Chancellery. The plan aims to strengthen the transparency of state institutions, public participation, and trust in democratic processes.

CAL proposals for broader civil society involvement:

  • Strengthened capacities of associations and foundations to monitor the honest use of EU funds and other foreign funding in the public interest.
  • Promoted more targeted public participation, particularly on issues related to public funding and crisis management.
  • Improved involvement of associations and foundations in shaping Latvia’s national positions.
  • Encouraged participation of community representatives in municipal civil protection commissions and strengthened public preparedness for crises.
