In January, the Civic Alliance - Latvia (CAL) expanded with the creation of two new member working groups: "Regional Issues" and "NGOs in Civil Protection".
"Regional Issues" Working Group
The goal of the "Regional Issues" working group is to enhance the involvement of regional members in CAL's activities, expand their representation in decision-making processes, and address key issues based on shared regional priorities. Members who have expressed interest in this group include: Zemgales NVO Centrs, Vidusdaugavas NVO centrs, Kurzemes NVO centrs, Dienvidlatgales NVO atbalsta centrs, Latvijas Lauku forums, New East.
"NGOs in Civil Protection" Working Group
The purpose of this working group is to engage CAL members and NGOs in strengthening civil protection efforts. Its tasks include participating in national-level civil protection activities, fostering collaboration with state institutions and partners, implementing practical initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of NGOs in this field, and improving the competencies of interested organizations in civil protection. The formation of this group is supported by the Latvijas Platforma attīstības sadarbība, Latvijas Sociālās uzņēmējdarbības asociācija, Gribu palīdzēt bēgļiem and Klubs “Māja”.
CAL's member groups represent their interests and promote participation in decision-making. Since 2021, the "Volunteering" working group has been actively operating, focusing on the development and improvement of the volunteering system in Latvia. This group is led by CAL member Agnija Jansone, who is also the Deputy Chair of the Volunteering Advisory Council.
