The CAL has been granted with the status of a public benefit organisation in the field of civil society development. This means that by donating the associations, private persons and companies are given an opportunity to receive income tax relief.

Private persons may be granted a tax relief in accordance with Section 10 “Eligible Expenditure” of the Law “On Personal Income Tax”, which stipulates that before taxing income, the amount transferred in the form of a donation or gift to an association, foundation, religious organisation or institution registered in the Republic of Latvia and being granted with the status of a public benefit organisation, may be deducted from the amount of annual taxable income.

At the same time, the Law stipulates that the payer's eligible expenditures (including expenses not only for donations but also for education and medical expenses) may not exceed 50% of the amount of the payer's taxable income for the taxation year, but not more than 600 EUR.
