Latvia is all of us together: The “I Have One Wish” election campaign

28.08.2026

Although voter participation has gradually increased in recent years, it remains relatively low. Therefore, to encourage voter turnout and remind people of the importance of every individual voice in a democracy, Civic Alliance – Latvia (CAL), in cooperation with the State Chancellery and the Central Election Commission, will launch the public information campaign “I Have One Wish” at the beginning of September.

As part of the campaign, digital communication materials will be made available for Latvian organisations, public administration institutions, businesses and individuals in Latvia and abroad to use in order to encourage others to go to the polls and exercise their democratic rights.

The digital materials will be available to the wider public from 2 September on the website www.nvo.lv.

The aim of the “I Have One Wish” campaign is to encourage every eligible voter to participate in elections and make a conscious choice. This message will be brought to life through visual materials created by the graphic design agency KID design, inspired by the familiar childhood game of building with blocks.

Just as blocks can be used to build all kinds of objects, houses and worlds, Latvia is also shaped by our collective choices and the contribution of every individual. The campaign’s central message, “I Have One Wish,” invites everyone to reflect: What kind of Latvia do I want to see, and what kind of future do I want to help build? Voting is an opportunity to turn a personal wish into action and participate in decisions that affect all of our lives.

Throughout the campaign, the public will be encouraged to recognise their role in democracy and reflect on how their personal values, needs and hopes are connected to the choices they make in elections. Well-known Latvian public figures will also help strengthen this message – including Dainis Īvāns, Baiba Sipeniece-Gavare, Kaspars Cipruss, Filips Lastovskis, Brigita Reisone, Sanita Osipova and others. In videos, they will share their wishes and reveal what kind of Latvia they want to see in the future.

Everyone will be encouraged not only to think about their wish, but also to voice it openly and take part in making it a reality – challenging the idea that wishes only come true in silence. Wishes come true when we actively help turn them into reality.

Latvia is not just institutions or decision-makers – Latvia is all of us, together.
