The procedure for including NGOs in the EU Funds Monitoring Committee needs to be clarified

The Civic Alliance - Latvia reiterates its call to the Ministry of Finance as the Managing Authority of the European Union (EU) funds to ensure quality and balanced public participation in decision-making on EU funds and to clarify the procedure for including non-governmental organisations in the Monitoring Committee of the EU funds for the programming period 2021-2027.

The CAL stresses that in order to include NGOs in the Monitoring Committee, it is necessary to launch an open competition for each NGO seat, to ensure that NGO representation is balanced, to develop clear NGO selection criteria, to ensure that the competition for NGO seats in the Monitoring Committee is publicly announced and that the Ministry of Finance as the responsible ministry takes responsibility for the establishment and work of the committee.
