Representatives of civil society agree to work together to overcome the crisis

On December 9, a meeting of representatives of civil society organizations convened by the Civic Alliance - Latvia was held online to discuss the role of civil society and opportunities to participate in mitigating the negative consequences of the crisis and preventing the spread of Covid-19. Participants identified the need for a communication and informative campaign from civil society as one of their priorities . An action plan is currently being developed.

During the meeting, Inese Vaivare, director of the Latvian Platform for Development cooperation LAPAS, Chair of the Civic Alliance - Latvia Council, introduced the participants to the Strategy on the necessary measures to manage the spread of Covid-19 infection in 2020-2021. The strategy includes principles for support and restrictive practices, joint action and resilience of public administration to reduce the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on people and national development. Inese Vaivare, who participated in the Strategy’s development, represents the views of civil society.
