CAL calls for NGOs to be consulted in decisions on additional Recovery Fund investments
12.07.2022

The Civic Alliance - Latvia (CAL) calls on the Ministry of Finance to find an opportunity to present the proposals of the sectoral ministries on additional investments and amendments to be included in the Latvian Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Plan before the proposals are submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval. The CAL also invites representatives of non-governmental organisations to submit and present their proposals for possible reforms and investments under the Recovery Fund.

We have already reported that the Ministry of Finance's information report indicates that under the Recovery Fund, Latvia could have access to additional funding of around eight million euro, as well as an additional allocation of €109.05 million for energy under the RePowerEU initiative. Adding additional reforms and investment to the plan could also give Latvia access to up to €2 billion in borrowing opportunities. Sectoral ministries have until August 1 to submit proposals for amendments and additional reforms; all proposals will be forwarded as a matter of urgency to the Cabinet for approval.
