The EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders is visiting Riga on Friday, 10 February to discuss the rule of law in Latvia, the challenges of strengthening democracy and the rule of law, and also support to Ukraine.

The Commissioner discussed with representatives of non-governmental organizations the role of civic society in the strengthening of democracy, management of crisis, combatting of corruption, etc. Along with that, he highlighted the need for strengthening the resistance ability of civic society and community, in particular in the Baltic region, taking into consideration the present geopolitical situations, and for making the voice of civic society to be heard in decision-making process.
