On Thursday, June 9, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia unanimously adopted the draft law "Law on Transparency of Representation of Interests" in the 2nd reading. The new law is expected to promote transparency in the decision-making process and also help the public better understand the decisions taken by the various authorities. 

We would like to remind that the CAL sent a letter to the Saeima to broadly discuss issues important for the sector, including the regulation of the lobby register; according to the organisations, there should be a different approach to the amount of declarable information for organisations representing public interests, as opposed to professional lobbying.

The deadline for submitting proposals before the 3rd reading is September 2.
