It is planned to support activities to reduce the spread of Covid-19

On November 26, a working group to support entrepreneurship and employees led by Minister of Finance Jānis Reirs received approval of the Civic Alliance – Latvia driven program “Support to Associations and Foundations to Reduce Negative Consequences of the Covid-19 Crisis”, which is intended to support the activities of associations and foundations in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis and initiatives and actions to reduce the spread of Covid-19. The funding available in the program is envisaged in the amount of 600,000 EUR, the term of the project is until 30 June 2021, with the eligible cost period starting from 1 November 2020.

In the spring, the Civic Alliance - Latvia already presented this support program, as well as the CSO post-crisis recovery program, funding programs for capacity building and other support measures in the group of the Minister of Finance and submitted to the group led by the Minister of Economics - the crisis initiative program received support at that time. However, it was not introduced due to bureaucratic obstacles, including the failure of some of line ministries to submit the program to the government. The Ministry of Culture has managed to promote the program for approval by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 4 this year and to entrust the administration of the program to the Society Integration Fund.
