In 2021, SIF will distribute 1.3 million EUR for NGO Fund projects

The Society Integration Fund (SIF) has announced a tender to choose which projects in 2021 to distribute 1.3 million EUR through the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Fund. For the first time since 2016, the tender has been announced so early that NGOs can start implementing projects as early as next year.

Next year, it will be possible to implement the projects from January to November in order to extend the duration of project implementation as much as possible. Taking into account the recommendations of experts from the NGO sector, as well as other sectors, the regulations of the NGO Fund tender have been improved this year so that filling in applications becomes simpler and more understandable, allowing more focus on the quality of application content.

Kristīne Zonberga, Director of the Civic Alliance - Latvia, emphasised that the regulations have become easier to understand and the project “forms are less cumbersome”. In the same way, a number of conditions have also been improved, such as the list of eligible costs, including voluntary health insurance for health-hazardous work, as is the case, for example, during the Covid-19 pandemic, when volunteers provide support to those most in need. Projects can be submitted electronically until 2 November this year.
